SHORT COURSES

The short courses aim at strengthening the capacity of civil society organizations, local and central governments, graduate students, and the private sectors in peacebuilding and conflict resolution. The courses are organized under three broad themes and run for 2 - 14 days.

Peacebuilding and Conflict Resolution
The courses include Peacebuilding and Conflict Management, Conflict Mediation and Negotiation, Land Conflict Mediation, Transitional Justice, Oil and Gas, Demobilization Disarmament and Reintegration, Child Protection in Emergency, Conflict Sensitive Development/Business Practice, Forced Migration, and Refugee Studies, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence.

Development Management

The courses include Project Planning and Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Right Based Approach to Development, Gender and Development, Theory of Change, Training of Trainers, Project Proposal Writing, Participatory Methodology, Entrepreneurship Skills, Consultancy Skills Development, Strategic Planning and Management, and Communications and Advocacy Skills.

Democracy, Governance and Human Rights

The courses include Local Governance and Decentralization, Election Observations, Elections, and Campaign Management Strategy, Governance and Accountability, Human Rights Promotion and Protection, Youth and Leadership, Women and Leadership, Balanced Score Cards, and Citizen’s Report Cards

Application Process

The institute periodically advertises courses on this website, social media, national newspapers, local radio stations, and public notice boards. The institute also sends out adverts on e-mail groups and mailing lists. Check on this website from time to time for adverts.
